Success Criteria

So now that you are finishing off your draft films it might be time to check them according to the success criteria which you were given at the start of the project.
Looking at your film and the success criteria what mark would you give yourself?  It is out of 60.....
Write a post detail what mark you would award yourself and explain why.

Fancy working in the film industry in Suffolk?

Then listen to this....

Talks about Suffolk bringing film crews to the area to film.  First bit is ok about Bentwaters but carry on listening and the chap who talks about ‘Trench building’ is very interesting –  – interesting spin on a career path in the subject of media studies.

Work for Tuesday 8th December

Hi Team Media

I am involved in the Beauty and the Beast rehearsal today so I won't be in but you know what to do!  Give on with editing!  If you have finished editing get the rest of the class to give you feedback - in particular looking at ways that you could improve.  Make sure that you are recording the feedback you have been given as you will need to prove that you have feedback and that you have acted on it. You could also ask people to comment on how your film would appeal to the target audience - this is one of the questions in your evaluation.
Don't forget the homework on Title Sequences.
Please spend the last 15 mins of the lesson posting about what you achieved today (please date it correctly as I want to be able to check easily)

Friday 20 November 2015

Work for Friday 20 November

Sorry that I am not here today but you all have work to get on with!  You should be finishing off your filming, editing or completing outstanding research and planning task. At the end of the lesson each person will need to do a post on their blogs summarising what work you have done today.  You will need to provide evidence - screen shots, samples of filming, editing etc.
Make sure that you are also emailing me if you are post dating anything as I will not be looking back at work from September and October unless you direct me to it!
If you were one of the students who volunteered to help promote Media to the year 11 can you please check your school email as I have sent you a message!

Enjoy the weekend ...... Snow is predicted!!!!

Developing your FINAL idea

It is now time to decide on your final idea.
You have the next three lesson to prepare this.  You will present you idea to the class on Tues 6th Oct and I expect it to be of a high quality.
Your presentation needs to include the following

  • Narrative Outline: Discuss the narrative/plot of your opening.  Keep in mind that the opening needs set up the film but don’t make it too complex.
  • Explain the ideas/messages/themes that you wish to explore in your film, how this will be done and why you have chosen to focus on these ideas/messages/themes.
  • Explain how your film will appeal to the target audience.  Discuss specific features of your film and how you think they will appeal to your target audience.
  • Explain what thriller film conventions you will use and why.  You might include a detailed discussion of at least five. Talk about films that have influenced you and try to talk about narrative conventions, character conventions as well as technical conventions.
  • Practical details- discuss what your film involves in terms of time, research, personnel, locations, equipment, graphics and special effects? Consider what problems you might encounter and how might you solve them?
  • Audience feedback - once your presentation is complete you will need to get feedback. Develop a questionnaire for the class (including the teacher) to do.  What do you want advice on? Explain what thriller film conventions you will use and why.  You might include a detailed discussion of at least five.

How to embed a Prezi

How to add a Powerpoint to your Blog

In order to get your powerpoint onto your blog you need to use a programme called Slideshare. Set up an account using your school email
Once you have set up an account click on the UPLOAD button (it is the orange one!) and the screen shown below will appear

Using the orange button select the ppt, word, jpeg etc that you want to upload.

Fill in as much information as you can (will make it easier to find if you lose it but DON'T include personal information). If the box has a * it means you have to write something in the box.
Once you have fill in the boxes click 'Publish'.
Once it is published find the 'Share' button - it will be just below the powerpoint

Copy the Embed code

Once you have this code create a new post on your blog and click on the HTML button - don't delete any coding that is already there!

Paste the Embed code in and then call on the Compose button and you will see your powerpoint!

Holiday Homework

As well as making sure that you are up to date with blog post you have been set two projects to work on over summer.

The first one was to look at a range of music videos and complete textual analysis and try to link in as many of the ideas we have discussed in class

Summer holiday homework – analysing music videos from Naamah Hill

The second task was to start thinking about what you might do for your music video project.  You need to come up with three individual ideas (even if you are working as a group).

We will be talking about these two project when you are back at school!

Holiday Homework Tasks

Using the sheets I gave you in class you need to find out as much about our five case studies films as possible. Below this post you will find a post for each case studies where I have collected a range of resources for you to look through.  You can look at others as well.  As you read up on the case studies try to find the information into one of the boxes on the sheet - note that some case studies might not have a lot in some boxes while other will have too much to fit.  Pick the best information, write small and use the back of the sheets if you need too. Don't forget to read the booklet you were given at Xmas.  It has extra information and case studies.  You can use the information from there in the exam as well.
